Minutes and News
November 16, 1997
The meeting started off with Bob Adams
presenting the group with a huge assortment of pastry's. Bob is
now a pastry chef and brought to the meeting a cheesecake, a
chocolate rum cake, a strudel and pumpkin bread. Thanks so much
Bob!
Ann from Fin Alley will be calling
about reserving a block of rooms (100) for the Rosemont show at
the Hyatt.
Ann and Steve announced that the
harmony midwest newsletter is now on line on the Weaver's web
page. This is a group endeavor so any input would be appreciated.
A suggestion was made that we should
have a name for our newsletter. Some of the suggested names were:
Obsession, Compulsives monthly, Harmony Highlights, Serendipity,
Harmony Shores. This was our first brain storm, so please email
us with other names.
The next meeting will be on January
11th, Sunday at 1:00. If you want to go out for lunch, please
meet us at 11:45.
Harmony Kingdom boxes were then passed
around for everyone to look at and discuss.
An SAC Journey Home was passed around.
On the front, their is a little rock that says SAC. There was
some discussion that the recent boxes have a treble clef on the
rock.
The chess set was discussed -- it is an
open edition and is made by Surprise It's A Box.
A Totem Pole pen was passed around.
Everyone liked it. However, one member who had the pen and had
not even used it yet commented that the pewter is starting to
chip off around the point of the pen.
In fine feather was passed around
A Brown Panda was passed around. The
elusive panda was made in both a brown color and a black color.
We are not certain which came first.
An SAC Rooster was passed around --
everyone loved it!
Ann and Steve Weaver passed around
pictures that they had received from Chris and Davey at the Earth
Shop. They were pictures from the New York Harmony Kingdom
Museum. They were wonderful ... it showed tons of pictures of
current, retired, variation pieces and prototypes...never before
seen boxes by many of the members.
A Pink flamingo with black beaks was
passed around. It was beautiful...
The Oriental Netsuke called Men and
Dogs was passed around ... it was great!
Two different Splashdown boxes were
passed around. One was a very light gray and the other was a
blue/grey color ... a lot brighter. A discussion ensued regarding
the splashes on the pieces. It appears that many of these pieces
have varying lengths of splashes ... due to breakage at the
factory and then being touched up there ... so it would be very
hard to tell a difference unless you compared the pieces
together.
Club members decided that it would be a
great idea to set up plans for the Rosemont collectors expo. Ann
from Finally will look into group rates at the Hyatt and Simone
will look into organizing a list of people who would like to
attend any HK events scheduled at Rosemont.
Members in attendance were Michelle
Gravenish, Brenda Gravenish, Dee Dee Gurgon, Colleen Guyer, Bob
Adams, Steve and Ann Weaver, Kathy Plehn, Ann Schmidt, Linda
Kowalczyk, Jeff and Nancy Hix, Hank and Jean Grotenhuis.
